NEET PG Surgery Important Topics

0

Surgery is one of the subjects with high scoring potential in the NEET PG exam and has relatively high weightage. Surgery in the NEET PG exam is covered by more than 30–40 questions. Every year, a national exam called the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is given by applicants for admission to postgraduate medical programmes all around the nation. Thousands of students apply for about 32,000 available spots, which results in intense competition. The National Board of Examinations (NBE) holds the NEET PG examination once a year. The exam comprises 200 MCQs, for a total of 800 marks and the duration of the exam is 3 hours and 30 minutes. It is important to remember that there is a 25% mark deduction (i.e., one mark) for each incorrect response.

Due to the extensive syllabus and confusing medical jargon, it is technically impossible to retain and recollect everything during the exam. Therefore, it is necessary to choose an effective study plan that is directed in the proper direction. Aspirants do better in the NEET PG by learning and memorizing important topics. Many candidates place an undue emphasis on chapters with little weight. Maintaining a perfect balance between the two while giving more time to subjects with greater weightage and significance is the best course of action.

Key points to keep in mind

  • Keep the surgical regimen in mind as you study it and stay organized.
  • The candidate will need to assess the appropriate course of action following an interim intervention in order to answer the questions about surgery. This necessitates in-depth knowledge of the subject and its subtleties.
  • The NEET PG exam has repeated questions from surgery for UnderGrads and hence, is a scoring subject.
  • For a better understanding, surgery can be combined with anatomy, radiology, and pathology.
  • Before making a decision, all available options should be thoroughly investigated.
  • Applied anatomy knowledge must be gained in order to successfully answer questions about surgery.
  • To familiarise yourself with the types of questions asked in the exams, practice MCQs and previous year’s papers.
